Many studies endorse the effectiveness of using virtual reality in psychotherapy.
During the session, monitorization and control is made by the therapist through an interface while interacting with the patient who is being exposed to the stimulus.
Its use is based on immersive virtual exposure therapy, combined with psychotherapeutic techniques aimed at reducing the physiological activation and modifying the maladaptive thoughts.
The immersive quality perceived by the patient is way superior to other resources that are less sophisticated and normally used by therapists, whether it is photo, video or audio.
Facilitating and fostering the induction of emotions, thoughts reactions that are similar to a real exposure, it increases the therapeutic potential of the tool.
To go further in the empirical validation of our virtual environments, we are collaborating with reference institutions in the area of mental health for investigation and clinical projects and studies.
